LOCAL RESTAURANTS

Here are a few restaurants that we go to ourselves and have always had a great meal.

COFFEE & LIGHT BITES

Idris Stores, Corris

I know we have mentioned these guys a few times but we genuinely love this place. Eat In and Take Away Coffees, snacks, pastries and groceries. Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Open 10-3 Tuesday-Saturday, but check their shop board when you are passing.

Wednesday Is Market Day Machynlleth.

Every Wednesday you will be spoilt for choice at the Mach market. Traders, bakers, candlestick makers (ok maybe not those) but it is well worth a visit and you will find food ranging from cakes and pastries to curries and tofu.

Mawddach Pizza, Dolgellau

Love Pizza? Here's something brand new from Ifan at Bwyty Mawddach - Properly made stone-baked Neapolitan style sourdough pizza & other homemade Italian goodies to takeaway

PUB / GASTRO FOOD

Glan Yr Afon /  Riverside, Pennal

A 15 minute drive towards the back is a Pennal and there you will find some of the best food in the area. Large gastro style menu with all the local favourites all beautifully prepared. Glyn and Corina the owners have many years experience in the restaurant trade and it shows, having created a warm atmosphere with great food and wine.

Slaters Arms, Corris

Our little local pub. Ales on tap, great choice of beers, ciders and Scrumpys. Simple pub food menu. Spend hours meeting the friendly locals and hearing their stories. Open most evenings and for lunches on Sunday. Booking is not essential but call ahead due to limited number of tables.

Cross Foxes, Brithdir, Dolgellau -

Nice family restaurant with good meals and large bar. It is one of the go-to places for a good lunch or evening meal.

George 3rd, Penmaenpool, Dolgellau

Lovely views over the estuary, beautiful old building and a great menu make this a definite recommendation from us.

Ty'n y Cornel Hotel Restaurant

Stunning lakeside views and good sunday roasts too.

There are also some great places to eat in Dolgellau, just up the road.

Supermarkets

Co-Op Machynlleth

Spar Dolgellau

Asda and Tesco also deliver to our area.

FISH AND CHIPS

Hennigans Top Shop, Machynlleth

Award winning local chippy in Mach, Takeaway just the way it should be.

Sea Breeze, Aberdyfi

It's a restaurant, and now a takeaway too.  If you want some of the best fish and chips around to eat at the seaside then go here. The queue is never as long as the chip shop next door and the food is better so its a no brainer!  Being a restaurant you can sit in too with a glass of wine and sea views. Being a Bistro there are lots of other things on the menu too of course.

VEGAN & VEGETARIAN

Idris Stores, Corris

They offer a lovely selection of vegan friendly options, pastries and lunches. But they are more than happy to add a few slices of bacon to your breakfast too! Also, the coffee here is great!  Saturday breakfast club has already become legendary. Take away and eat in and open 10-3 Tuesday-Saturday.

CAT Cafe, Centre for Alternative Technology, Mach.

A real treat for vegans and vegetarians alike. An interesting but simple menu with some great flavours.  Wholesome and healthy in a family-kitchen style setting.

Personally not been to these next two yet but have heard good things.

Ty Medi, Machynlleth

Blasau, Royal House, Machynlleth.

FESTIVAL STYLE STREET FOOD

The Shack (Cheesy Vinyl Bar) - Upper corris (closed during winter)

The Cheezy Vinyl Bar is exactly that. A bar that serves cheese, crackers & chutney on a vinyl LP, whilst spinning your favourite tunes on a turntable. Great priced exciting "Street" style takeaway food. From Jackets to Scones, and Halloumi to Nachos.  Tasty and fun. Cakes, hot and cold drinks too. Open Fri, Sat and Sun Lunch/afternoon..
