MACHYNLLETH
The historic market town of "Mach" is just down the valley, with all your modern amenities, supermarkets, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. There is a market every Wednesday which is well worth a visit as well as a host of townwide events throughout the year such as the carnival and world famous Machynlleth Comedy Festival which attracts the best names in stand up. The historical significance of Mach can be seen in the Owain Glyndwr Centre. There is also a museum of modern art (MOMA) and a leisure centre with pool, flume, gym and sports hall.

A world-renowned Eco centre that researches and supports greener ways of living. There are seven acres of hands-on displays, examples of environmentally responsible buildings, renewable energy, organically managed gardens and family holiday activities. www.cat.org.uk
KING ARTHUR'S LABYRINTH
At the Corris Craft Centre is an exciting underground adventure. Enter by boat through the magical veil of an underground waterfall into a mythical world filled with dragons, giants, fierce battles and the legendary King Arthur.
Ancient legends from Wales unfold as you're guided through the Labyrinth by a hooded Dark Age Boatman. King Arthur's Labyrinth was voted best visitor attraction in Mid Wales for 2018. www.kingarthurslabyrinth.co.uk
Cader Idris Mountain
No one is certain where the name Cader Idris (Idris’ chair) originates. Some maintain that Idris was a national hero, killed in battle against the Saxons round about 630 A.D. Some insist that he was a giant, and yet others link Idris with the legend of Arthur. The Minffordd Path route to the summit of Cader is probably the shortest route to the summit but involves the most ascent (869m). It is a 6 mile and 5 hour walk in total there and back and takes in some challenging but walkable mountain paths and views of the stunning Llyn Cau Lake, a perfect example of a "corrie" or "cirque".

Machynlleth Mach Trails
The Mach Trails are primarily advertised as cross country mountain bike routes but lend themselves just as well to great loop walks to and from Machynlleth. The original maps are available for you to download from the Dyfi Mountain Bike Page, and they are currently working to produce new signage, maps and GPX files.
Mach Loop - Military low flying plane spotting
The Mach Loop is a set of valleys nearby to Fronwen which are regularly used for low level flight training, with flying as low as 250 feet (76 metres) from the nearest terrain. It's a spectacular sight and sound when the planes fly BELOW your vantage point! Click here for more.
CORRIS CRAFT CENTRE
Just out on the main road between Corris and Corris Uchaf is a great little village of craft shops and cafes. You can watch candle making, glass sculpting and even Gin being made in their own micro Distillery. There is a traditional toy shop, a gem stone store, and a sweet shop. Too much to list here, so go and have a look for yourselves.
